After being rain delayed to Sunday and having to play 6 games in one day, the never die and never quit Hoover A 8u all star ladies fought their way out of the losers bracket to beat Oak Mountain TWO TIMES in a row, as fate would have it, at exactly midnight Monday morning to become AL-NSA AREA CHAMPIONS! (We’re talking almost 12 hours of softball – nothing could be finer on Father’s Day!) Earlier in the afternoon, with a state tournament berth already sealed, the Hoover 8u ladies lost their first game of the Area tournament to OM in the first semi-final game. Determined not to be denied a championship, they showed tremendous heart, got off the mat and went on a 3 game winning streak defeating pesky Hueytown for the 3rd time the teams faced this season. And then, in a deja vu scenario from 1 year ago, they avenged the earlier loss by defeating OM twice to claim the championship in the “if” game. With the game tied 11-11 after time had expired, Hoover won the game in tiebreaker format. It was an incredible comeback ending and these girls never ever gave up the entire day, night or early morning! Congratulations Hoover A 8u AREA CHAMPIONS! Next? Let's go win the state!!!!
